Project Funding & Student Bursaries

  1. Project Funding

The Michel Lanfranchi Foundation provides funding to projects that are focused on education or education infrastructure that will benefit groups of beneficiaries mostly from previously disadvantaged groups or vulnerable communities.

The Projects have beneficiaries from primary, secondary or tertiary education and will be selected upon submission of an application, on a case-by-case basis after a review process.

Project Funding Guidelines

  • Projects should be contributing to education or educational infrastructure
  • Organisations should have audited financials or clear annual financial statements available
  • Information about beneficiaries and impact should be readily available
  • Section 18A certificates
  • When submitting a proposal the following documents should be submitted
    • Background and mandate of the organisation
    • Section 18 a certificate
    • Annual financial statement
    • Impact report
    • Synopsis of the project applied for or plan for financial spend
    • Amount requested
  1. Michel Lanfranchi Bursary

The Michel Lanfranchi Bursaries are awarded to students who display academic excellence and demonstrated commitment or passion for economic development. Our bursaries have a particular focus on the built environment focussing on careers that will equip students to contribute to the property development sector at various levels. Bursaries are also given to students who show strong academic achievement in the STEM study streams and show an interest and passion in community development.

Details of the bursary:
The bursary is valued at R200 000 that will cover all students’ needs including tuition, accommodation costs, textbooks, food and a monthly allowance.

Selections will be done based on the following:

  • Learners currently in matric
  • Preference will be given to students currently studying towards a degree in: Property Studies, Quantity Surveying, Construction Studies, and other degrees in the built environment. Thereafter students studying towards critical skills qualification such as IT, Computer Science, Information Systems and Industrial Psychology will also be considered.
  • Students will be selected according to demonstrated financial need and academic achievement
  • Preference will be given to: students from previously disadvantaged groups, females and students with strong motivation to go into the property industry and/or keen interest in social or community development

BURSARY APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

  • Applications will be done online
  • Fill in online form attaching all relevant and required information
  • All applications will be reviewed by MLF
  • Shortlisted students will be informed and invited for an interview
  • After the interview – successful students will be notified
  • Students submit documents and sign agreement

Bursary guidelines

Eligibility for the bursary:

  • The applicant must be a South African citizen
  • Applying for qualifications specified in the advert only
  • Students studying towards an academic qualification; The bursary targets applicants in the youth sector
  • Registering for university for a qualification
  • Previously disadvantaged with demonstrated potential with a minimum pass mark of 50%
  • Not in receipt of any other bursaries

Required documents:

  • Certified Grade 12 Statement of Results/ Matric Certificate
  • Certified ID copy of applicant
  • Certified ID copies of parents/guardian
  • Proof of application for study at an Institution of Higher Learning (where acceptance letter is not yet received)
  • Acceptance letter from Institution of Higher Learning
